Recap: The Indian Gaming Show 2023

Looking back at the celebration of all things gaming

Guess this for us - Serious conferences, fun cosplays, interactive exhibitions, a LAN party happening right there on the venue, and some big name sponsors. Oh, and a crowd abuzz with excitement and spark.

Guessed it yet?

Yes, the Indian Gaming Show 2023 was back in its full glory on the last month of February, and after a long four-year old hiatus from the offline world, IGS did not disappoint.

This year had something for all the gamers and the game-makers, ranging from some pretty big names' being involved in some pretty interesting conference talks, to some insanely skilled cosplayers bringing our favourite video game characters to life.

There were interactive booths with the latest and the greatest hardware, humming along, and playing new games. The site was electric, and absolutely buzzing.

Riot games made its debut appearance at IGS. And after adding an Indian character, Varun, to its FPS title Valorant, the Indian craze for Valorant has further reached its peak.

Sony was also there, with its booth fully stocked with the Playstation 5, eager to please some hungry gamers. Joining Sony, industry heavyweights such as Jet Synthesis, OnePlus, RIOT, LG, LOCO, among others signified IGS's impact on the Indian gaming landscape.

And this year, IGS 2023 also had some pleasantly positive initiatives for the gaming sector in India.

Skyesports hosted the first all-female Valorant LAN competition ever held in India, which was a government backed initiative.

Esports has also gained some prominency now, with the conference talk 'The Esports Olympic Medal Quest: Path for India to win an esports', being held to discuss about putting India on the map for the global esports scenario.

All in all, IGS was a blast. It feels like gaming in India is becoming mainstream.  eSports is officially being a recognised sports category, international gaming companies showing the love, and a huge audience turnout - all gathered to celebrate all things gaming.  

The future for gaming looks bright in India - and we're all for it.
