With the advent of each and every new year, there’s something that gets us excited about this magnificent and shiny year ahead of us.
So let us give you one more reason to be excited for the year ahead - Global Game Jam is back for 2024 🎉
What’s a Game Jam?
A Game Jam is a fun event where you can make a game from scratch. You can join as an individual or a team, and use any skills you have, such as coding, art, music, or design. Each Game Jam has a theme and a deadline, and you can participate online or offline.
And, Global Game Jam (GGJ) is one of the biggest and oldest Game Jams in the world. It started in 2011 and it happens every year for 48 hours, all around the world. The theme is different each time and it is a secret until the jam begins. It is a great opportunity to meet other game developers, learn new things, and create amazing games.
If you’ve never been a part of a Game Jam before, GGJ is the perfect jam for you. It’s not a competition, it’s a medley of people from all over the world of all disciplines coming together to create what they love the most - games.
And even for a short jam of 48 hours, this jam has fostered some genuinely amazing games, and some pretty big successes also! 🏆
All-Access GDC Scholarships by GGJ 🎫✨
Adding to the game jam experience, the GGJ committee also provides scholarships to its jammers, organizers, and volunteers for them to attend Game Developer’s Conference 2024. It is the world’s largest forum for the game development community, and an exciting opportunity to connect with game makers all over the world!

Global Game Jam in India
Over the years, India has built up a massive following of the GGJ. Developers from all over India, from all disciplines take part in this annual celebration of global game making.

This year, there are already eleven GGJ India sites that are up for you to join!
Hurry and register before all the seats are taken at the site nearest to you! (Keep an eye out for the sites, as new places are being added all the time.)
Also, do join the Official GGJ India discord server for all updates and a super-fun jam experience with game makers all over India.
Finally, if you can’t find any nearby sites to jam - why not create your own?
You can have a go at creating your own jam site for your local gamedev community! 💪
